Our correspondence regarding COVID19
Feb 2021
What a long, strange trip this has been.
Nearly a year ago, young families were on the long road of raising kids and trying to make available all the necessary, foundational, and even enriching experiences that growing children need to reach their full potential. And then, a tree fell across the highway and the usual route was closed. Kids’ destinations didn’t change, families’ destinations didn’t change, but everyone had to find a different way to get there. MT of C is beyond grateful for the ongoing commitment of you, our wonderful families, for your willingness and engagement in clearing a trail to support your families’ musical life. Like any redirection, it hasn’t been the most convenient or easiest, but we’ve kept on moving in the right direction. Thank you. Our rationale throughout this time has remained grounded in safety for you, for our staff, and the larger community that all our lives touch. It’s been frustrating for us and many of you to not have clear direction much of the time, but we made an intentional choice to err on the side of saving lives.
(We’d also add that, like other detours, we’ve made some surprising, delightful discoveries that we wouldn’t have found were it not for the dang tree!)
SPRING 2021: Based on the current diminishment of the virus spread, uptick in vaccination rates (headed in the right direction) and the likely change in weather, we will offer in-person outside classes in several locations: Myers Park, Dilworth, South Charlotte, Lake Wylie, Davidson. We will also continue to offer Zoom classes for families who prefer that, or who cannot make one of the outdoor class times.
